The FOORC Trail Improvement Initiative has adopted community multi-purpose trails located around Fort Smith Arkansas. This includes but is not limited to (Ben Geren & River Front Rail Road Property), Barling (Springhill) and Van Buren (Colley Park). The appearance and upkeep of these trails is dependent on community volunteers and donations. Our goal is to build on our members knowledge of how to properly maintain soft surface trails. Monitor assigned trails for vegetation clearance, adequate sight-lines, surface conditions, drainage and much more. We help members understand mountain bike trail building concepts, engineering and safety standards as applies to the Army Corps of Engineer and sustainable continuous improvement standards. FOORC "trail leads" train and coordinate with trail team volunteers on their roles as they relate to proper trail maintenance expectations / requirements. Members work with a trail coordinator to schedule “Trail Dirt Work Days or Pay Dirt Days” as needed to keep our trails at their best. This is all done through donations and organizational fundraising. You can donate directly on the FOORC donation page.
Rebuilding trail features is only possible through the hard work of our volunteers and your donations to FOORC. We want our trails to be safe and fun for everyone.
This is where we help community members meet their cycling and active lifestyle goals. This includes group rides, instructional clinics, socials, and events that support the multi-use trails in our area. We are building a better community together.
